just as you must do?
why fade out and then rise?
at the end of the story
you’re supposed to fade out
find your place in the universe
shine for all to see . . .
even if your heart is aching?
even if you feel betrayed, hurt … confused?
precisely . . .
have you ever seen tears?
well yes . . .
somebody else’s tears, i mean?
well of course!
they glisten in the sun, don’t they?
well yes, i suppose so . . .
then what happens to them?
i dunno?
you look up in the sky at night
and there they are
part of the universe
people look up to them
because they see that
they now inhabit the sky
instead of running down cheeks
i never thought of it that way . . .
precisely
but do they ever return to being tears?
but of course
tears are part of our existence
stars
to tears
to stars
and it goes on like that
i suppose . . .
how about catching a movie?
would you like that?
sure

Such beautiful writing, Mary.
Thanks. Happy New Year. 🙂
Love it Mary.

Thank you, Laurie. I’m suffering from eye-strain right now. I found an exceptional site on screenwriting and spent the last few hours reading through several helpful articles and then an entire script. I just came onto WordPress a few minutes ago. Thank you for stopping by. Hope you are well. M.A.
Ohh, eye strain not good. I’m fine thanks, you’re obviously okay except for your eyes that is.
Laurie.

Thank you, Lynn. I just finished reading your last blog. I love squirrels. They’re always working toward their dramatic goal with a skip in their step. Thanks for stopping by.
I love squirrels, too. They always make me laugh with their antics.
I love the poetic dialogue, and what an encouraging idea! that our sorrows create beauty, that our trials develop character 🙂
That means a lot to me. Thank you.
Ha. Very charming. k.

I’ll be back!!! 🙂
This is beautiful.
Thanks! 🙂
What a beautiful poem! And it couldn’t have been more relevant for me …
‘tears are part of our existence
stars
to tears
to stars’
That is so lovely, so poignant. And the ‘back to earth’ line at the end … quite a surprise!
Thank you so much for choosing to follow my blog and directing me to yours. Peace.
