get off the pot

reveal your struggle
you’re not alone
go ahead, try it
bring it to the dinner table
adorned with warm pumpkin pie and ice cream

unhinged tears flowing
11:11 p.m.
fridge noisy
much commotion
hysterical laughs from next-door neighbor’s party
your dreams
everyone’s dreams
night

digging into it all
a great exchange
bouquet of all purpose flowers
complete with brilliant red bow

you don’t miss a word
you miss many
giving me a sweet new take on things

drama drama drama
personal disaster without end
find yourself, man
you’re better than this
you will love again

in unselfconscious times

he throws fierce tin cans
at half silhouettes
whilst i press on
with tough-soft kindness
dancing with words
missing the paper
in unselfconscious times

energy creates
energy is a dirty lip
energy is not a dirty lip
animated half-truths
in an admired journal

The Blog of The Year 2012 Award

Blog of the Year Award 1 star thumbnail

Thank you, Living and Lovin at:  http://nutsfortreasure.wordpress.com/ for presenting mypenandme and many other fine blogs with this award.

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

  1. Select another blog or other blogs who deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award;
  2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award;
  3. Include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award at the Thought Palette and provide these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
  4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
  5. You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience
  6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

There are stars to collect! Yes, there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the 1 star award, and every time you are given the award by another blog, you can add another star!

There are total of 6 stars to collect.

You can check out your favourite blogs, and even if they have already been given the award by someone else, you can still award them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

For more information check FAQ on The Thought Palette

before the end

walking on sallow legs

nearing death

he weakly picks up the phone

calls the organ transplant unit at the hospital

where he is a patient

he reaches the receptionist

and for the very first time in three years

pushes himself

to ask the question:

“any ideas as to when i’ll be receiving my liver?”

“YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE WAITING FOR A LIVER,” she snaps

before callously going on

to describe the many ‘deserving’ patients

waiting for liver transplants

those who are parents of young children, for instance…

that dirty _____

she broke my man

she broke him and i couldn’t fix it

i couldn’t repair his hope

i will never forgive her for that

he died two weeks later,

april of 2003

one month before

his 52nd birthday

I was going to write this for Three Word Wednesday, but for some reason, I couldn’t get past the word, sallow.
