What else can I say about me? I started out with a passion for songwriting that led to words — first poetry/prose and then screenwriting. Though a late bloomer, my goal is to become a produced screenwriter. My goal for 2016 is to build a portfolio of short screenplays in addition to writing spec scripts.
Glad to meet you and let me congratulate you on your blog and for picking up your pen.
Delighted to meet you, Michael. Thank you for your kind words. 🙂
Thank you kindly for visiting and reading some of my ramblings. I look forward to reading more of your writing.
Thank you for connecting. I’ll look forward to reading more of your work as well. 🙂 M.A.
Welcome to the “late bloomer” society!! I must say it’s wonderful–wouldn’t trade it for all those folks whose stars burned bright, early, then out. And writing–nothing parallels that joy, for me. Many of my poems start as “songs” in my head (with melody), but I can’t write music, nor sing a lick! I’m so glad you’re here–thanks so much for your frequent visits at my place, and my apologies that I’m so behind with my greetings! God bless you Big.
Thank you so much for your warm welcome. About writing–nothing parallels that joy for me, either and I love the way that you put that! I’ll be looking forward to reading more of your blogs. 🙂
I got a notif that you liked my poems!! Thank you so much. I’m not exactly a late bloomer but while I was working I had no time to write so have taken it up again in retirement. Thanks for visiting and maybe I can visit you again – your site looks interesting.
I liked your poems very much and I just clicked on follow so that I can continue to read your future work.
Thanks so much for connecting. Best regards, Mary Ann.
I’m a late bloomer too. 🙂 Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too! 🙂
Hello Mary Ann – I saw that you stopped-by my blog today…thank you for visiting and for letting me know you were there. 🙂

I’m glad you liked them, Mary Ann…and you’re welcome. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking it. Much appreciated. I’m sure I shall visit this blog again.
Thanks for stopping by. I was trying to photograph penguins a couple of weeks ago at our Metro Zoo. They sure swim fast. I’ll leave it at that! Ha! Best regards, Mary Ann.
I caught these two little penguin chaps early, when they were still rubbing the sleep out of their eyes – that probably slowed them down long enough for me to take the pictures! Thanks for stopping by. Maria
lol…

Mary Ann thank you for the visit and for liking my attempt at haiku. I find any minimalistic style of expressing oneself a challenge. You have that magic…I enjoy your writing tremendously, I am joining your band of followers for the moments I need some relief from the flood of words that come out of my head. I find your site very peaceful. I’m glad you led me here.

Thanks very much. I like your new photos. 🙂
Mary,
Thanks very much for the Sunshine award, I have posted my appreciations and linked to your page. I am not sure what I need to do in addition. I don’t want to put the logo on my home page, not that I don’t appreciate it but that I want to keep the home page as simple as it is possible to reflect the nature of the haiku.
Thanks Mike
I understand. That’s why I created a separate page for my awards rather than adding them directly onto my home page. Keep up the good work. I’ll look forward to reading your future work. Best regards, – Mary Ann
Thank you very much for your kind comment about my blog. Very best wishes for your writing! Yours sincerely, Alison Brackenbury

My pleasure! 🙂
Mary Ann, thanks for visiting our blog at Fresh Fare. I am the “blogmaster” for the catering company, but I am also a writer and have my own self-hosted blog at (http://) westceltgypsy (dot) com. I love sharing writer links with my readers, so I will add you to my writing blog links over there. Thank you so much for the lovely blog award for Fresh Fare – I am still waiting for my bosses to get back to me with the “7 interesting” facts, but one of them is in Mexico getting married (!) and the other is running the business solo while she’s gone, so it’s a bit hectic here. I will have the “Thank You” post up asap. Thanks again!!
I will look forward to checking out your self-hosted blog. 🙂 I have to back to work for a couple of hours now. I’ll be back soon. Best regards, Mary Ann.
Thank you so much for liking my posts. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂 Renee
Excellent Einstein quotes. 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well. M.A.
Hi, Mary Ann… I’m not a word person… I’m a steel-nib-stick-pen person. Thanks for stopping by my blog.. 🙂
My pleasure. 🙂
Thank you for following poemsandponderings.wordpress.com. After reading about your blog, it seems we have followed similar paths to get here. I too, started by writing what I deemed to be song lyrics to no avail. Then turned to poetry at the suggestion of a friend. I was also late in getting started with this hobby/passion. I am looking forward to reading your material. Again, thanks for joining me on the ride to who knows where.
Glad to be friends! 🙂
Thanks for visiting the first gates and liking the birthday post!
My pleasure. I look forward to reading more. 🙂
Dear Mary Ann: So nice to meet you. And, thank you for following my blog. I, too, am a songwriter (country)-turned-writer. Got tired of the tiny canvase that is a song. Writing short stories now. Enjoy your doodles.

Thanks for the appreciations, homie. Keep in mind, if you ever decide to break up with your writing stylus in favor of something more graphite, mypencilandme doesn’t sound quite so elegant.

Hi Mary Ann,
Thought you might enjoy this quote from Phillip Roth in today’s NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/18/books/struggle-over-philip-roth-reflects-on-putting-down-his-pen.html?hp) in which he explains why he has retired from writing:
“I know I’m not going to write as well as I used to. I no longer have the stamina to endure the frustration. Writing is frustration — it’s daily frustration, not to mention humiliation. It’s just like baseball: you fail two-thirds of the time.” He went on: “I can’t face any more days when I write five pages and throw them away. I can’t do that anymore.”
I enjoyed the article. Thanks so much for the link. 🙂
