horn fly
jingles in sunlight
poised on a cow’s bell
zzzzzzzzzz
tick-tock-tick-tock
ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling
snort
“Wha?”
tweet tweet, tweet tweet, chirp
vaarroom . . .
distant horn sounds
vaarroom . . .
tweet tweet
zzzzz zzzzz zzzzz
“A fly?”
swat, swat, slap . . . .
long yawn and sigh
eyes closing
tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock
zzzzzzzzzz
in a crazy mood
eating gingersnaps
indigo blue light below
ding-dong
snort
“Wha?”
rat-a-tat . . . rat-a-tat
bang-bang-bang-bang-bang
“Yeh, yeh, yeh, I’m coming! Grrrrrrr!”
tramp tramp tramp tramp
sound of door opening . . .
“Are you coming to work today?”
“Oh my stars! Yes. I’m sorry! I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.”
