maddened mirror
drives the verse
to a different story
one-way clouds passing
I see it in your chain-link eyes
words strolling
past plain park bench
where nobody’s hat sits
fashion — a frilly portrait
stage rises
ink climbs
gathers new newts
let your eyes breathe, man
time is a would-be warm arm no longer
love — an open eye that sees the light
your verses breathe like skinny tall desserts
garnished with maraschino cherries
charm, style and mistakes

some weighting mystery bolts from a peripheral fabric dragging loosely knowing.., your style unpinnable. awed
You are awesome. Thanks.
Love the last verse, specially!
Thanks, Simon. I appreciate it.

let your eyes breath, man … great line, M.A.
blessings ~ maxi
Thanks for letting me know. Wishing you many blessings. M.A.
Favourite line: “I see it in your chain-link eyes”
Very strong visuals in this poem. Great words, Mary!
Thanks so much, Millie. Much appreciated.
I’ve got marbles in my mouth!
Lots or just a few?
about a dozen I think
Don’t lose any of them.
You’re right. Especially as that’s all that are left to lose.
Do you know the neat reminder for doing screws the correct (“right”) way?: “Righty-tight, lefty-loosey.” That just came from using “left” above. With possibly a hop and a jump from “lose”. Originally from Malcolm in the Middle, I think.
I’ll have to remember that. Thanks. Ha.
strong, deep words evoking images of inner struggle, a little bitterness perhaps, a peeling away of old skins, powerful and touching…
Thank you.
Amazing cadence, imagery and gentle force! Love it!
Gentle force… I like that. Thanks, Resa. Hope you are well.
Likewise! 🙂
Well written poetry.
Thanks so much.
Boil on brave kettle, boil on…
Wonder-full.
It all seems to hinge on that brilliant fourth verse. So well constructed.
Thank you for your kind words. 🙂
