Are you wondering about the postal stamp or the post mark?
I’m not sure about the stamp its self, though first impressions are that it’s either British or Canadian, though I have seen similar ones from countries I’ve never heard of…
As for the postal mark? Most likely, it was to celebrate some event, possibly local, or maybe something holiday related such as Christmas. There simply isn’t enough there to tell for sure.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. I quit collecting stamps about 20 years ago and I haven’t kept up with developments in the hobby.

  4. That is an interesting postmark! I can say that that is the first time I have seen one like that, and I check out stamps frequently, old, new, foreign.I hope you let me know what you find out. Night!

  5. There is a place in Weston, Massachusetts 02493, called the “Spellman Museum of Postal History”. I’m not sure if it is just U.S.Postal history or more broad based..Perhaps you could Google them..

  6. clinock says:

It’s a stamp issued by the British GPO that symbolically represents young and vulnerable citizens shielding themselves from the power of the monarchy…

  7. I have seen it in green-Scotland 1950’s. The nature and origin of the postmark(?) is probably what gives it some added value. The mere stamp would probably be in the neighborhood of $2.00.

I know that is Queen Elizabeth II and a young girl–probably a fundraising and/or conciousness-raising stamp of some sort.
